Sips Of Joy (11-20-09)
into my dreams
these sad thoughts, covered with doubt
tonight it's a voyage I must take
Sometimes we need love more then we know
with the sun as a blurry blister of a friend
slowly letting its rays of light into my day
My body turns, yearns and knows days like this can go
unaccounted for
Maybe I'm just too naive and too numb to ever understand the
language of love
But tonight, it's a question I need an answer to
Lonely is the road
empty is the bed
I will soon sleep upon
As the dust settles
my legs twitch with discomfort
I believe in all of the promise God gives to me still
Like a song I wish I could sing for tomorrow's awakening
Time still seems like just a journey
We must travel to find what we are all looking for
This confession I give to you now
Is more than a heartfelt condition
It's the reality of my days gone by
Wish I could stop living with my life on display
Much like the 4th of July
I can barely hold up the American flag
With so much distance in my eyes
I push away everyone I love
Evening news with their outrageous motives
The common tourist must shake their head in disbelief
Around the corner are a few neighbors I always smile at
Wish I could write a song for everyone to smile to
Wish I could find what I'm looking for
