Album Review

Fans of Aaron Sprinkle take note. This album, the debut by Sprinkle's most recent moniker, Fair (a band made up of Sprinkle on vocals/guitars/keys/programming/percussion, old time friend and bandmate Nick Barber on bass/vocals, Eric Newbill on guitars/vocals/keys/programming, and Joey Sanchez on drums/vocals) is the best piece of music Sprinkle has done in his entire career. Yes, I said his ENTIRE career. Fair surpasses Poor Old Lu and Rose Blossom Punch, and even outhandles Sprinkle's sensitive solo albums...

All through the course of 12 stunning tracks. Aaron's vocals are air-tight and pristine, and the masterful arrangements that decorate this album are original, spell-binding, and artful enough to dodge any 'emo-esque' tag anyone misinformed might try to oversimplify this album's sound with. The range of dynamics Fair accomplishes with subtle keyboard use and clever song structures and breakdowns are overwhelming. "Carelessness" is the album's first single, and while it's a strong piece of songwriting, by no means is it the highlight of TBWCS. Criminally infectious songs like "Monday", "The Dumbfound Game", and "Bide My Time" equal every ounce of genius that Poor Old Lu's Sin had, and then some. No kidding around, this is Aaron Sprinkle at the top of his musical game, and he's never sounded better. Every song builds and wows, and then you reach the ending trilogy of songs...the universal perfect pop of "Confidently Dreaming", the chilling and orchestral "Blurry Eyed", and the driving, melodic, Eisley graced "Unglued".

The strength within these songs is so rare. You know how when you hear something so perfect that you're overwhelmed with this feeling that despite all the bad stuff going on in your life, everything is going to be okay? I know it can sound ridiculously cheesy, but Fair crafts music that almost makes everything else okay. This is rock that soothes. Near perfect, and a self contained Aaron Sprinkle greatest hits album.
